For me, this is a big step in the right direction…

Yesterday we went to WalMart to get a few essentials, and I stopped over in the exercise section. I got a set of 1.5 lb and 3 lb barbells (the soft “for women” version since DD is only 14 months) and the 5-lbs medicine ball set. So now I have those to help with resistance :-)

I also scoped out the elliptical machines just to see how theirs were since their least expensive model is under $200! I noticed that their maximum weight is 250 lbs, so I talked the hubby into letting me set one of my prize goals for myself - when I reach under 250 lbs I can get an elliptical! I think it helped convince him that it’ll be a few months until then ;-)

I also got onto sparkpeople.com this morning and printed out a bunch of exercises that I can do with the barbells and medicine ball

P.S. This cold is still hanging on, and I still can’t breathe through my nose with any regularity :-/

Go me…

I did good today and twice refused food that I know I shouldn’t have…

At our team meeting at work today, I didn’t get a piece of cake even though it was offered and people kept talking about how good it was.

Tonight, after we got home, John asked if I wanted some ice cream…and I said no…

I also did 50 knee-bends while I was brushing my teeth…

Little steps, little steps :-)

Still sick…

I’m still sick, but definitely much closer to feeling human than I have for the past week. My husband’s feeling a little better (per him), and our daughter’s cough is sounding better than it was. She still has a bit of a runny nose, but luckily she never really let on that she didn’t feel well - what a trooper :-)

We went through yesterday and worked out a budget; that way we can see where we are financially, as well as to help us figure out if we can afford upgrading to a 3-bedroom lease (currently in a 2 bedroom) in a few months when our lease is up…and we CAN - yay! I’ll be finished paying off my Amex card 2 months before then, so we can put that $200 into savings for those two months and have it on-hand for paying for the move - YAY! We need more space - we have the computer desk up next to our bed, and nowhere to put the treadmill (manual) that isn’t either underfoot or way to easy for our almost-14-month-old daughter to get to. We’ve decided that we can use the 3rd bedroom for computers/DH to practice his doublebass/treadmill. I did tell him that I wouldn’t complain if we upgraded to a Elliptical machine for me for Christmas since the manual treadmill is a bit tricky to get going at times ;-)

I’m trying to figure out when I can work out (there’s a gym in our complex), but that’s tricky to coordinate since it I work until 7, which would mean eating way too late and not seeing my daughter before bed if I went straight from work, and in the mornings I’d have her with me, which wouldn’t work either :-/ I’m hoping I can at least go ahead and go on weekends until I figure out what to do during the week - that’s a start at least, right?

You know…

It’s funny how it’s both depressing and motivational to look at my old journal entries.

I archived my old LJ posts here, and it’s weird looking at posts that date back to October 2003 and seeing how my original weight-loss timeframe goal was June 2005.

*sigh*

Ugh…

There’s a saying that goes “Don’t cut off your nose to spite your face”, but I wonder if it applies to allergies and sinus issues? ;-)

I started feeling sick back on Monday and was off from work both Tuesday and Wednesday. Emma started getting a runny nose and coughing on Friday morning, and John started feeling the same way later that day as well. Great, we’re sharing germs! Ack! I still feel like crudula, and with them getting sick, I have a feeling that’s also keeping me from getting better…grr…

At least today I have some energy back even if my lymphnodes are still swollen and sore. My throat is finally NOT hurting (yay!), but I’m still coughing and my nose is stuffed-up most of the time. :-(

As I sit here typing, my husband is playing the PS2 and just coughed a couple of times in a row.

Oy…wish us luck in ALL getting back to 100% soon!

P.S. Don’t forget that the Discovery Health Challenge started yesterday and includes a free Bally’s Membership from 1/14/06 through 3/11/2006. Sign up today if you haven’t already!! Let’s get healthy together!

The reasons I want to lose weight

Another day, another blog...

I typically start off my blogs with the story of my background, but this time I want to start off differently...

The reasons I want to lose weight:
1) For my daughter - I want to be able to really play with her.
2) For me - I want to feel good about myself; I want to be healthier; I want to live longer.
2) For my husband - I know my issues with myself are currently affecting our relationship.
